Out of Brisbane, Australia, I organise small-group motorcycle rides... long day rides full of fun, adventure, great people and good food, and road trips along amazing roads to iconic destinations across eastern Australia. https://www.youtube.com/@timsrides

Hey everyone! I'm an Aussie motorcyclist who spends most weekends leading small-group rides around SEQ and Northern NSW. But my real love is road trips... whether its 2 days or 2 weeks... big adventures to fun places.
Chillin’ in Nimbin with good vibes and great company. ✌️🌈

Off on a ride to celebrate Pride Month tomorrow morning. First time I've done this, but I'm keen to support everything this month stands for—and it has become more personal to me this year.

Nimbin, a centre of counterculture, seems like a fitting destination 🙂.

The impact of the TACO administration is global, and millions will die as a result of its anti-science agenda.

Visited Hallstatt a few years ago on a trip to Austria. A truly beautiful town. Of course the entire trip I was thinking "I wish I was on a motorcycle" 🙂

Discover Hallstatt, Austria, a picturesque town surrounded by mountains and a serene lake, showcasing a blend of old and new architecture.

I was happy to help Filippo out and annotate the beautiful still of his image (non-annotated version sent to @apod.shinyakato.dev as I really think it is worthy).

You could do so much science communication from this one image:

- galaxies (plural!)
- aurora
- stellar evolution
- nearest system

Ok, here it is!

This beautiful footage, made by my friend Filippo Rivetti was taken last night during the height of the storm from Royal National Park, on the southern outskirts of Sydney.

We see #aurora, the beautiful Milky Way and a sea of stars above our Earthly ocean.

They sent a poet ...

Just one reason promoting Pride Month is so important. I have treasured friends whose lives are at risk simply because of who they are. This is not hyperbole... this is the reality they live with every day.

Browsing through some old photos of mine, came across this one... my first attempt at tilt shift 🙂

Here's a playlist of four Relive videos of our recent Painted Silos Tour in South-East Queensland!

We started out in the rain, but the skies quickly cleared up, and we had blue skies and sunshine for most of the trip.

Please enjoy! 🙂🏍️

I've been very slack about posting ride updates here!

A few weeks ago we did a four-day tour targeting some local grain silo art. Here are a few photos from the tour. Will post videos soon.

Love a Harrier! One of my fondest memories as an undergraduate in the Royal Australian Navy was getting a tour of the HMS Invincible, seeing her Harriers up close and personal. 🙂
Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR3 XZ133

She is a Falklands War veteran having flown with RAF No. 1 (Fighter) Squadron. She flew at least nine sorties between 2 & 14 June 1982, operating from HMS Hermes & the temporary forward airstrip at Port San Carlos.

This is not natural... it's entirely the result of human activity. The science behind that is simple, provable, and not questioned by anyone with any expertise in the field.

We are heading towards disaster.

What are some of the more interesting motorcycles you've seen in your travels?

The first is the bizarre looking Aprilia Moto 6.5, designed by Philippe Starck, which I saw on the streets of Vienna.

The second, rather less functional 🙂, outside a shop in Old Town Prague...
