Good start to the day. After years of searching, I finally obtained (via Yahoo Japan Auctions) a copy of the extraordinarily rare (and not cheap) "Gekiga Jaws" manga. It first ran in Shonen Champion and got a tankobon in Dec 1977. After I obtain it, I'll make it a LOT less rare at timeldred.com!

If you're in search of a Japanese equivalent to H.R. Pufnstuf, look no further than "Great Dinosaur War Aizenborg" (Tsuburaya, 1977). I generally pick something crazypants to finish out a year with, and this one did not disappoint.

Still slogging my way through Great Dinosaur War Aizenborg (anime/tokusatsu hybrid, 1977). In Ep 26 we get a new female villain, Zobina. The more I look at her, the more questions I have. (Tampering with fan subs is my own coping mechanism for this goofy show.)

I make a deal with myself when I start watching an older anime series; to stay with it to the end no matter how dumb or repetitive it gets. Along the way, I've found that if you can mess around with the fansubs, you can make it a lot more entertaining. Frames from "Great Dinosaur War Aizenborg"...
