It was lonely work keeping watch from the High Tower. Searching and waiting. In silence. Waiting for the lights of a ship to appear in the distance. A ship with hungry and tired travellers. Travellers who would be drawn to the lights of the tower.

Our world is in dangerous place. Shouting louder and being angrier won’t help. Time to slow down and think. Time to reflect and consider. Time to use some tools to force us to think deeper and slower. Time to cut out the noise and the outrage.

Interested to see where this goes. But also wondering how this can tackle the main problem with social media. That it results in increased polarization, with increasingly alarming results. Is any kind of social media the right tool to bring people together for meaningful dialogue?

Glad to see this. A big focus on the reporting though is on traffic delays rather than anticipated safety benefits. Could also look at total increase to average travel time which would be tiny.

People can forget one of the key reasons we strive to create more walkable cities is #mentalhealth. It’s a huge and growing issue and creating streets and public spaces where people can walk, meet & gather is massively important.

“Loneliness and isolation can lead to: 29% increased risk of heart disease; 32% increased risk of stroke; 50% increased risk of developing dementia among older adults; and 60% increased risk of premature death.”

Surgeon General recommends designing cities to create more connections. #WalkableCities

Capturing my second cousin in a candid photo last year near her home in Ormond Beach, Florida. Sometimes it’s not the quality of the photo but the memories it brings up that makes it special.
