ETIC has reopened the Visitor Center for the Till National Monument as of November 4. We have signed an agreement with the National Park Service to open the Monument on their behalf. Visit us Tues. through Sat. between 12 and 5PM. We're eager to continue sharing the Till story.
On November 23rd, in honor of Mamie Till-Mobley’s 104th birthday, ETIC, The Institute for Common Power and the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project will host a free and public teach-in about Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley and their legacies. Visit bit.ly/3LReym5 to register.

The final presentation of “Remembering Emmett: From Silence to Social Change” will be at 11 AM on Nov. 15 at the Mound Bayou Museum. Supported by the MS Humanities Council, the event is free and open to the public. Join us for the conclusion to this powerful series of talks.

During Sumner’s annual Fall Book Walk attendees toured Sumner Square, trick-or-treated and connected with fellow community members. Children listened to a story and received free books. Thank you to everyone who came out to help make the event a success! We loved seeing all the costumes!

In August, ETIC staff presented at the Friendly City Books’ Possumtown Book Fest at the Columbus Arts Council. Wright Thompson, author of The Barn, was the keynote speaker. ETIC staff will return to Columbus on Sept. 25 for the Mississippi Humanities Council-funded panel, “Remembering Emmett.”
