This is so upsetting! Important work being done by @techjusticelaw.bsky.social and others to prevent these sorts of tragedies.
Adam Raine, 16, died from suicide in April after months on ChatGPT discussing plans to end his life. His parents have filed the first known case against OpenAI for wrongful death.

This type of surveillance pricing is giving lots of folks pause. What data will be used in determining pricing? How exactly will people be profiled for pricing purposes? What will Delta’s algorithmic audits reveal? #delta #deltaairlines #AI #travel

Today I attended the @defenseone.bsky.social Tech Summit. I was especially excited for the panel, “AI, Allies, and Algorithms: The Future of National Power.” The panel discussed the DoD’s $200 million contract w/ OpenAI and optimism around broadening the types of technology the government procures.

I made my way through AI Now’s 2025 landscape report, “Artificial Power.” The report offers a roadmap for engagement on AI issues. Of note is AI Now’s call to bridge networks of expertise and advance a coordinated agenda to write the rules of AI regulation.

Another cautionary tale of how historical markers used to feed AI can result in unfair scrutiny and surveillance of vulnerable populations. NYC uses a predictive algorithm to flag certain families for additional screening and surveillance by child welfare caseworkers.
