“There’s a typo in this book. Arrest the police!” - my kid who doesn’t know how right he is

I'm also tired of hearing about how he was a citizen. As if non-citizens forfeit their right to life these days. His citizenship status is irrelevant.
People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.

A provision banning racial profiling of Hispanics by ICE in reaction to yesterday's SCotUs action should immediately be added as a non-negotiable position for any kind of CR.

*Force* the GOP to *demand* racial profiling of Hispanics and make them threaten to shut down the government over it

Finally made it back out to a corner protest. This is my sign. Got a lot of honks--no negativity!

Is it just me or do many songs from Oingo Boingo’s first album, Only A Lad, play like proto-MAGA anthems?

So if someone bombed our nuclear facilities in Texas or Tennessee or wherever, the US wouldn’t consider it war and would basically be cool with it? Am I getting this right?

If 11 million people truly voiced opposition to Trump today, I'm extremely curious where that leaves us tomorrow. Will news coverage change tone? Will congresspeople change tone?

I believe that standing on a busy street corner with a sign expressing condemnation for Trump is a helpful action.

Pulling Clausewitz quotes out of context is simply a continuation of politics by other memes
If you ever wonder why using Clausewitz quotes is so hazardous, it’s because he frequently poses ideas in opposition to one another to demonstrate tension—particularly between theory and practice. If you’re not careful, quoting him is just simplifying the thing he meant to complicate.

Abel's first easy sonata for viola da gamba (WK141) is really satisfying to play.

It feels to me increasingly like the morning of Jan 6, 2021. I knew bad stuff was going to happen, maybe very bad, but I didn't want to watch, because maybe it would be just predictable bad, but then again... and minute by minute it got worse, so I kept watching, & that was, alas, the right call.

I'm not seeing enough chatter about the future we're going to build after the failed reactionary revolution (and after the Democratic party is either dust or unrecognizable) in the US. It's all "RESIST RESIST RESIST". I want "REBUILD".

Feels like demolishing USAID brings the Trolley Problem to life in ways nobody asked for... except we didn't have to kill one person to save the group. We chose to just let everyone die.

A judge has ruled that Philly Quakers are among the religious groups whose houses of worship are now off-limits to ICE agents.

Maryland District Judge Theodore Chuang said in a memo that allowing for warrantless operations in places of worship “lacks meaningful limitations or safeguards.”

Baptist, Sikh, and Quaker groups, including the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, filed the lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.

"Move fast and break things" only makes sense if what you're building is an inconsequential toy. Facebook (and similar services) grew from inconsequential toy to glue that holds us together pretty imperceptibly over the past couple decades.
