Experimenting with whether I can automatically generate coherent Spotify playlists from data I already have in MusicLiveCOLCHESTER. It's getting there.

This one features local artists prioritised by who's playing in town in May, among other factors:

Are all full moons named after classic albums?

Also, follow @moonunit.colchester.social if you'd like to know more. One of my other little projects.
The current moon phase is full moon with 99.46% illumination. Because it is April, the full moon is called the "Pink Moon".

Israel has destroyed the last remaining hospital in northern Gaza.

We have witnessed the total decimation of Palestinian healthcare, met with silence from political leaders who refuse to acknowledge the horrors they have enabled.

This is the dehumanising reality of genocide.

A bot that basically just goes round to their house and gives people a slap upside the head when they start sentences with "so".

Well. After 24 hours of frustration and bewilderment I now have my own Bluesky server, and a handle at @simon.colchester.social. Not everything works yet so I can't open it up to people as I'd like to. But that's enough for today. Exhausted.

At midnight tonight, 'Close Season' arrives in a flurry of ice and North wind. Capturing this song with Simon Armitage has been a joy, and I'm so excited to share this first installment of our collaboration. It's a song for these cold, dark nights. ❄️

Looking forward to the Obituary gig next week but have decided to take advice from AI. Currently working on my headbanging stamina and mosh pit readiness.

Invasion, ethnic cleansing and genocide are not "fighting between".
"I think that both sides have been forced to make concessions."

Lebanese journalist and analyst Ali Rizk tells @krishgm.bsky.social "chances are really high" that we will see an end to the fighting between Israel and Lebanon.

Version 2.0 of MusicLive* will be an app. I can do the Android stuff, but would need to chat with an Apple developer. Anyone out there? And if anyone can donate an old iPhone (versions like ~8-10) to a good cause that would be welcome. This is not for profit, it's for love and kindness.

That moment when you're reasonably proud of a song you wrote over 30 years ago, but only now realise you stole the chords from Lionel Ritchie.

I absolutely love my local music scene, so many great venues and bands and acts to see. There is nearly an open mic every night or a gig at one of the many venues. Welcome everyone to the #colchestermusicscene #greaterangliamusicscene

Having read quite a lot of @timbl.bsky.social and @royfielding.bsky.social over the years, I'm rather taken with the fact that a Bluesky handle IS a fully-qualified URL, potentially independent of the social network itself. I can't quite put into words why I find it interesting yet, but stay tuned.

Why do some people still say/write "an historic" when they would never stay in "an hotel" or ride "an horse". It's just wrong whilst pretending to be super correct. Maybe lovely @susiedent.bsky.social can help me understand?
