Grief is like an old acquaintance who hasn't changed. He still sits heavy on my chest, lurks under the surface trying to pull me under.

But I have changed. I see grief as a cost of love. And I have never wished I loved less so I could feel less pain.

TIL that we almost had strict scrutiny for sex/gender discrimination. Frontiero v. Richardson, 411 U.S. 677 (1973) used that standard, but the court walked it back to intermediate in Craig v. Boren and its progeny. Maybe because the plaintiff in Craig was male?

RBG argued for the plaintiff in both.
