Between 200 - 250 million turkeys are slaughtered for food in U.S. every year. About 46 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving. 22 million for Christmas. Nearly 99 percent of these turkeys come from factory farms. They are slaughtered at 12–16 weeks old. Mere babies.

"Humane meat" is marketing nonsense make consumers feel better purchasing food is the product of violence, terror. Products come from animals raised on factory farms. Product packaging feature images of happy animals in green pastures, truth of living conditions crowded warehouses, filth, misery.

Hunting is no sport. Only one side has weapons of destruction. Wouldn't it be nice to arm animals so they had a fighting chance? Canned hunting - trophy hunt where animals are kept in confined areas like fenced ranch to prevent their escape, make tracking easier for the hunter.

Non-vegans believe meat that is marked "humane" or any number of marketing slogans, go to slaughterhouses where they're treated to tea and a snack before being led to a mattress where they're given a pill that makes them sleep. All slaughterhouses are brutal, bloody and violent.

Meat (dairy,eggs) is disgusting. Meat is decomposing flesh of an animal killed against their will. One needs to refrigerate/freeze meat returning from store, cook met at high temperature to kill any bacteria like Salmonella, so the meat does not kill you. That is quite disgusting. And dangerous.

1.4 billion animals are killed in leather industry annually for their skins - cows, sheep, goats. 20 million animals are killed annually for fur. About 672 million animals - Merino sheep, goats, alpacas are used for wool. After wool production declines, they're slaughtered.

It's not enough to extend compassion towards fellow humans. Nonhuman animals suffer deeply, precisely due to humans. Compassion asks us to push through speciesism and recognize ourselves in all sentient beings. Ceasing to use and eat animals will bring us closer to the peace we envision.

Would like to rewrite “A Christmas Carol.” The main character is visited by the ghosts of animals past that he played a role in killing for food, clothing and entertainment. At the end, he realizes the ethical choice is to go vegan. The animal ghosts congratulate him, move on to next nonvegan.
