This was the first cover in the Dragonriders of Pern series to feature the beloved fire lizards and I really enjoyed painting them. 1/5
A redheaded woman in a yellow jumpsuit emerges from a cave. She stands with arms outstretched in a T shape. A tiny dragon perches on each forearm. She's framed by the entrance of the cave, which is set in a hillside on a small island. Water washes up the sand in front of her. Bare alien trees extend upward from the hillside. The trunks are tan and segmented like bamboo. Some trunks are thicker, combining many thick shoots into their mass. Leafless branches project out sharply. More islands can be seen in distance on the left side of the painting along with two moons hanging in a gold and pastel sky glowing as the sun rises out of view.

realized that with all the Starling info I have in my head, I was leaving out a very important part lol

#STARLINGS
updated info on the Starling creation process listed above, but for easy access to the info, here are the edits made: A Starling can be: A. Someone who dies and is pulled back to their star. This star is the one they were born under, but also must contain a Celestrix. The Celestrix (Celestial Phoenix) are magical spirit beasts that inhabit stars that Eris uses to teleport to regions that she needs to be in to answer prayers. However, once a Starling claims their Celestrix, that point can no longer be used by Eris until a Constellation is made. Upon accepting their Celestrix, a Starling will then be reborn, and in this process, teleported to the Pleiades OR Eonid where they will be welcomed in by others and introduced to their new life. If they are reborn in the Pleiades, it will lead to option B. If they are reborn on Eonid or other planets similar to Eonid, it will lead to option C. (Note: If their star is not already part of a constellation, their first task will be to go and create one in order to learn their duties as a Starling. If it does already have one, they will go with another Starling as they create one and see how it's done.) also updated: *Starlings - transform through a sacred bond with the star they are born under and the Celestrix within.
