Moved in September just before the Government shutdown. An agonizing 51 days between pay checks (43 days plus the 8 it took to get pay processed) later we can finally begin exploring the new to us local restaurants.

Today's pick, Doc Rocco's Deli and Market.

We are going backwards. @schumer.senate.gov this is on you for not fighting last March. We already struggle to get enough qualified individuals, especially teachers and nurses.

Dollars to donuts, Mango Mussolini signs the Epstein files bill and the DOJ immediately sues for some outlandish reason to stop the release.

You do not "send legislation to the other chamber" hoping they will "correct serious deficiencies in the bill."

You write a good bill to start. If you don't agree with everything in the bill, vote against it.

Unfortunately this seems to be the way the current congress believes you operate.

OPM is a disaster. I work for a legislative agency. The flexible spending account administration is by FSAFEDS.gov. They recently added "identity verification" to their website using login.gov (another opm initiative).

As a step toward a more united country and world, how about we stop using phrases like "left leaning" and "right leaning" especially with respect to people? Just <name> is enough, then describe the situation and let the person receive the information without the pre-bias bias.

Seems like a design flaw that there is no way to recall a senator
November 11, 2025 at 4:46 PM
@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com you can't spin this. The Republicans didn't change their position. The Dems got nothing that wasn't already passed in the Senate. The RIFs during the shutdown were already found illegal in court and backpacking was guaranteed in the 2019 law.

@kaine.senate.gov claims he's getting overwhelming support from his constituents for his vote. I'm a constituent. I don't support his vote. I suspect most, like myself, realize the futility of contacting his office. He's not listening anyway.

The US Government need never shut down again. Making an automatic CR on appropriations expiration would remove the shutdown threat. Requiring both houses to remain in DC until all appropriations bills are passed and signed into law would also help solve the problem.

It is unconscionable that the so called "richest country in the world" is playing games with a basic food benefit for the Poor.

It is equally unconscionable that the same country does not provide health care and higher education for everyone.

How effective do you think Senate minority whip Durbin was in rallying the democrats to vote against the deal when he voted for it?

He needs to be removed from the leadership.

Ultimately, this vote by the democrats goes back to the vote last March that postponed the government shutdown until October. The Democratic party leadership seems to have a pathological fear of success.

So much for the support shown to the democrats in last week's elections.

We suffered for nothing. Cruelty is the point.
November 10, 2025 at 1:32 PM
People want to know their sacrifices are not on vain. Federal employees have suffered and sacrificed for over 40 days only to be told it was for nothing. @schumer.senate.gov needs to get a grip on the caucus or step aside. @kaine.senate.gov may find reelection challenging.
