You *promise*?
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Don't mind me; gonna just sit, listen to a professional violinist cry over the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 OST and *side-eye* the Grammy nominations committeee. Not conspiracy-theory or anything, just ... my siblings in Christ, really?!?

For the music-lovers (specifically tagging @amalelmohtar.com here) - one of the best tracks on the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 OST. The album made the Billboard Classical Chart, no game tie-in required, and it's the composer's first professional album: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwAL...

Not to be glib, but every book I've read has changed me in some way. That's why I read. But the biggest change came from the first books. I learned that books were a way of seeing worlds through the eyes of others, and how worthwhile that is, and ultimately, that's how I learned empathy.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

I just spent fifteen minutes beating *one particularly annoying thing* in Clair Obscur. How can I enjoy a game *this much* when I spend FIFTEEN FUCKING MINUTES beating on ONE CREATURE? (Okay, granted a lot of it was spite because that thing destroyed me like three times, but STILL.)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - not the *only* game where I rant interchangeably about "that fight is SUCH BULLSHIT" and "I am deconstructing the nature of life and humanity through various plot elements like I'm in some beatnik cafe", but it's the one I've been most vehement about both.

The front doors to our flats are thin and let in every noise in the corridor. Often there is crying, and this gets annoying, though I try to be patient. Today, they are trying to stave off the crying by singing Frere Jacques - which I haven't heard since I was a kid. In French, even.

There is an old joke about a teacher asking, "What did Watson & Crick discover?" & a voice from the back of class muttering, "Rosalind Franklin's notes."
🧪
This is the seminal paper written by Watson & Crick outlining the structure of DNA.

Rosalind Franklin should have been co-author on this publication.

She was just given a meager acknowledgement.

The only time I did 9 was at summer camp, and I was carrying our boom box into the dining cabin when it started to rain. Summer camp also got me really *good* at 17 - orienteering was one of my favourite morning activities.
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).

I am teh oldz.

The UK government (successive ones, actually) are like, "We can't possibly have had this many people become disabled since 2019!" and I'm like, "Are you so determined to pretend Covid isn't a problem anymore that you forgot it even EXISTED?"

I think this is one I'm going to nudge in the direction of @alasdairstuart.bsky.social - feels like his kind of vibe. Seriously - roaring 20s art deco aetherpunk noir. Gritty detectives, sweet ingenues, and hovercars (in playable chase / combat scenes, no less).
Review for Aether and Iron is now up! Basically, the vibe is "Roaring 20s Art Deco Aetherpunk Noir" and I'm vibing with it. ko-fi.com/post/Demo-Di...

Clearly I am no longer allowed to go on annual leave. I see a LOT of overtime in my future. AAAAAA.

But if we stopped buying "a small treat", we'd kill the economy, or at least several industries, and STILL BE UNABLE TO MAKE ENDS MEET. That's aside from the fact that everyone deserves something nice now and then. Fuck's sake.
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”
