Aw, man. Boil water notices now in effect for parts of LA.

Water is becoming a major issue in the Southern California fires.

As crews battled the wildfire in Pacific Palisades, they put so much strain on the water system that the fire hydrants ran dry.

The fires have also fed ash into the water supply, leading to a boil order notice.

3. Stay focused. Authoritarians try to overwhelm you with constant attacks to keep you distracted and unbalanced. Maintain a steely focus on what matters: Your health, your family, and the survival of our country. Constant chaos and provocation are a strategy to undermine freedom & the rule of law.

2. Cultivate empathy. One way authoritarians defeat democracy is by trying to destroy empathy. Their strategies depend on dehumanization, demonization, and division. One of the best ways to resist is to actively cultivate empathy. Democracy depends on empathy.

Tips to keep democracy alive in 2025:

1. Be Brave. Avoid helpless/hopeless talk. Authoritarians want you to feel powerless because it makes their work easier. Courage, faith, and optimism are essential. Fascism feeds on cynicism and pessimism. Starve it.

Which means, if bird flu infects a person who is also infected with a human flu, there's a a possibility that a new hybrid strain will be created, which could be extremely bad.

One thing I really want is to not be the person that happens inside of. If that's how you feel too, get your flu shot!!!

IQuick Thread: I really love people who work to take care of the spaces we share online. Because Bluesky is less centralized, more of that work falls to us.

As in all things…look for the helpers.

This seems handy.
I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)
