A chilly day in west Ardnamurchan. Relatively quiet on the bird front. The Greylag flock held a lone Pink-foot. Highlight was a Jackdaw - these are pretty scarce here and this will be one of only a handful I’ve seen here in 20 yrs.

Managed to catch up with this superb juv Baird’s Sandpiper at Rutland Water this morning. Very tame and not at all bothered by the fishermen walking past within 2m! A great record for Leicestershire & Rutland #ukbirding #birds @rarebirder.bsky.social

After 2 days hard birding I eventually managed to see the Mourning Dove on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly, this afternoon. A great bird - 7th for GB and 1st for Scilly & England

LRWT’s Merry’s Meadow, just a mile from the busy A1, was a peaceful oasis (without the water!!) with wall to wall Black Knapweed this afternoon and sooo many butterflies, including Marbled Whites.

The saltmarsh at Kilchoan, Ardnamurchan, held 5 whimbrel & 4 shelduck as well as usual curlew & oystercatchers at high tide this evening. No sign of yesterday’s small flock of ringed plover.
