Tom has almost completed his Ridgeway National Trail walk, with the final section to Ivinghoe Beacon. Looking forward to seeing your photos!
It was day 5 on @theridgewaynt.bsky.social and the journey was from the M40 to Hastoe. Steeper sections today and a strong tail wind, but the sun shone which lit up the views to the north from the various vantage points. There were (just) enough benches on the #hike, but more is always merrier!

Plenty of activity out on the Trail today: huge bumblebees, butterflies, a patch of very early bluebells, a horse in a smart new coat and so many lambs. Please keep your dogs on a lead and under control when passing through their nursery fields.
Thank you!

What’s to spot along the Trail in March? Majestic trees awaking from their winter slumber, bouncing lambs, colourful cottages and tiny path-side flowers.

“Is that Ivinghoe Beacon over there?”
There are lots of expedition preparations on the Trail today: Yorkshire 3 Peaks, the Camino, Mount Kilimanjaro & St James’ Way.
We always give walkers’ information about what’s around them, those Chiltern Hills can be confusing: “That’s Bledlow, above Chinnor.”

Named after their hair-like appearance, hoar frost looked so delicate in the intense cold today along the Trail.

The word ‘hoar’ comes from old English and refers to the old age appearance of the frost: the way the ice crystals form makes it look like white hair or a beard.
