Ive been learning and playing a lot of games, familiar and new on line using VASSL. Hooked up with a couple guys in SoCal and we are shamelessly using each other to pick up new games and learning to play them. Three folks wading through new rulz is a lot easier.
Maybe one of my 2025 goals can be to actually nail down how to use VASSAL. Not that's it's exactly hard, but it is intimidating. I have a couple of games I'd really like to try on it though.

Understood. I am retired and am playing a lot of games (New and familiar like ASL) on VASSAL that I would never have the table space and time to set up the multiple sessions required for most of them.
True. I'm staring at four right now at work. When I'm off duty, I prefer to stare at zero, if I can.
If and when I retire, I imagine I will invest in a nice VASSAL setup to spare my eyes and fingers.

It can be almost impossible if starting cold by reading the rulez. Much more tractable if following the lead of someone fluent in the game system. Fortunately there is the possibility of live play and/or viewing through the use of the VASL module on the VASSAL gaming system.
