In all honesty, I’ve donated maybe twice in the 20 years since my Harvard master’s graduation. Today, I am making one.

The Promise of American Higher Education
No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue

“Fire Water Burn” by Bloodhound Gang feels like an appropriate theme song for 2025.

My favorite t-shirt from the women’s basketball finals goes to Azzi Fudd’s mom: “Fudd Around and Find Out.” #truth #uconnhuskies #everyonewatcheswomensbasketball

I wonder how long it took for Amy Coney Barrett to be called into the principal’s office and threatened with expulsion?

DOGE is just a Dog-E. And my small dog could do a better job than this Dog-E.
An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government.

DOGE is not a real government agency.
DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions.
DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law.
DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand.

From NY Times article: “We don’t have a fourth branch of government called Elon Musk,” Raskin said. Referring to Musk, he added: “You don’t control the money of the American people. The United States Congress does.” God help us.
People are getting up off the mat.
People have gathered outside USAID HQ for press event with Democratic Congressmen Beyer, Raskin, Connolly and Olzewski and Senator Van Hollen where they're addressing the building's mysterious shutdown today in the midst of the Trump admin dismantling the agency.

There are days as an abuse survivor that are uneventful. I am grateful for them. Then there are those days when something seemingly mundane triggers your trauma response and bam….you can’t sleep and feel like you need escape your own body. #csasurvivor

You simply can’t fix a US STEM pipeline issue without investing in K-12 schools and STEM. The US relies on foreign born talent to fill critical workforce needs because we don’t have the STEM pipeline. STEM jobs often require graduate training and experience. You can’t just put anyone in those jobs.

“In 2021, 57% of master’s degrees awarded to temporary visa holders were in S&E fields, compared with 19% for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Among doctoral degree recipients, the vast majority (83%) of temporary visa holders earned degrees in S&E fields, compared with 59% of U.S. citizens.”

My dissertation research on international students pursing master’s degrees in the US seems timely given all the discussion on H1-B visas.

Doing some research and stumbled upon this article subtitle from 1936. Public shaming aside, the pretzel man is so very Eastern PA.

Just submitted the final copy of my dissertation to the UNCW Grad School. The reality of it has not sunk in. Who knew a smart ass, scrappy kid and sexual abuse survivor from Reading, PA would one day defy the odds to earn two master’s (one from Harvard) and then earn a doctorate in education?

I learned since coming forward that my abuser sexually harassed at least one other student (and after she decided to enter the convent). I doubt I was the first or last, unfortunately.
Sexual abusers are like plagiarists. They rarely do it just once.

So there’s a reasonable chance that additional credible allegations are out there, making the nominees ripe for more investigations, or blackmail

Instead of cutting recess or PE in K-12 schools, maybe this is an opportunity to institute WWE smack downs!
Trump to name McMahon education secretary, CNN reports
The former WWE executive has served on the board of Sacred Heart University since 2004 but has few other ties to higher ed.

At age 17, my abuser-teacher told me “I checked the consent laws and we’re ok.” No, it was not. This man should NOT be the next AG.
