Björk once called me cool in 2008.
I don’t think i’ve ever preordered anything faster than the 4K of Killers of the Flower Moon from Criterion. you want to talk about hitting the timeline like crack? this was the closest feeling for me. www.criterion.com/films/35293-...
Killers of the Flower Moon

yeah, Chris Joslin tre-flipping El Toro is the trick of the year. the lore, the stomp, the shocked reaction to finally conquering a trick 8 years after you first failed (debatable!) is simply why skateboarding is magical sometimes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b54g...

DISPATCH has me back in my Steam Deck world again. it's super fun - I'm only 2 episodes in but it's just so easy and immersive and fun.

the new Rosalía record is scratching that part of my brain that wonders "who is the *artist* of this generation?" to compare her to a Björk or Kate Bush or Tricky would minimalize the impact that LUX could truly have. I'm in awe. the fact that she chooses to share this with us is a privilege.

I've seen some overlap with the more modern Pulitzer winners but it may be worth tackling the winners of The Booker Prize since it's only been going on since 1969.

there's a wrestling reporter that over the last year has turned into an intense stan for 2 specific Joshi wrestlers that feels weird? idk how else to put it. he's not reporting anymore - he's obsessed in a way that's overdoing it. there's a larger conversation about internet culture here but idk.

I still haven't seen NICKEL BOYS yet and I feel like I should just wait until Criterion puts it out in 4K, right?

now MAYOR Zohran!!!! let's gooooooo
the fact that I can confirm that I had better tickets to AEW Grand Slam than Zohran is a weird feeling. but you had to be in the building for Danielson vs. Omega, you know?

rewatched TRAINSPOTTING for the first time in a long time last night and simply: wow. still a dark, crushing yet alive journey into addiction that feels more poignant as time passes. truly one of the most existentially dreadful movies ever with one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.

it's cool how you can tell the new Militarie Gun record is influenced by Britpop in the same way that the latest High Vis record is, too. I'd say MG leans more towards Blur and High Vis leans towards Oasis. what's old is new again but in a good way.

it's weird. I didn't dislike or hate WEAPONS but I definitely didn't get anything out of it either. some cool shots in the first act and the ending but that's all that's sticking with me.

HARD BOILED has, as the kids say, the juice. incredible score, incredible set design, incredible destruction. it's insane how I would just watch movies to watch them in my teenage/college years and keep going and then forget them.

How the White Savior Became This Year’s Cinematic Punchline
Several of this year's notable movies, including, One Battle After Another, Eddington, and The Mastermind humorously critique the political role of white men.

went into Barnes & Noble, showed my daughter the Mulholland Drive and Barry Lyndon Criterion 4Ks and asked her to point at one for us to get. no idea what it means for her future but she picked Mulholland Drive.

to put it lightly, ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER has the juice. for such a stressful movie, I'd happily dive back in, which is saying a lot. PTA was always been GOAT'ed for me but glad he's getting a massive moment for wider audiences.

I watched All The President's Men a few weeks ago for the first time in a long time and simply said afterwards: "there will never be another like Robert Redford." a legend. an icon. he will be missed.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor, director and godfather for independent cinema as Sundance founder, dies at 89.
