This letter which I reported on a few weeks ago will dog the current government for a while longer as they struggle to shake off the accusation they didn’t mislead the electorate.

No resolution, party whips meeting AGAIN… we could face the prospect of TDs being thrown out of the chamber if they refuse to allow business to proceed. My god.

A huddle among the Opposition Business Committee members and party leaders has formed inside the chamber, as they plot their next move.

Will they go tika taka, or just launch it up to Big Duncan Smith?

If the Ceann Comhraile ever comes back into the chamber (20 mins overdue) we might find out.

Quite the chaotic scenes in the Dail chamber this morning, with the House twice being suspended (yet to resume) as the row over speaking rights delays, for how long we don’t know, the election of Micheal Martin as Taoiseach. 🍿

What is it that makes Ireland such an attractive location for foreign businesses?

According to this client survey obtained by @righttoknow.bsky.social, and which the IDA withheld from release for almost a year and a half, it's still the corporate tax environment:

Newly elected Ceann Comhraile Verona Murphy agreed a €50,000 gagging order preventing an alleged bully complaint against her by an older female member of staff being made public.

Verona Murphy has been elected as the Ceann Comhraile, becoming the first woman to occupy the role.

The new (almost anointed) gov survives its first scare.

In comments that are likely to further to inflame our country’s diplomatic spat with Israel outgoing Ceann Comhraile Sean O’Fearghail likened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with Putin and “other dictators”.

In his speech urging TDs to elect him as Ceann Comhraile John McGuinness has a swipe at input from TDs in Government stating that sometimes “the government” equates to simply the leaders of the coalition parties.

Last week I was being told that this wasn’t a story… today Eoin Hayes was suspended from the Soc Dems with slim chance of being let back in.

Eoin Hayes suspended from the Soc Dems with immediate effect.
December 10, 2024 at 4:12 PM
There we have it… Eoin Hayes received €199,000 pre-tax when he divested his shares in Palantir in JULY of this year.

This is despite telling journalists earlier he did so before entering politics.

Soc Dems now reviewing the issue.
