The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Martin Necas, Jack Drury, and two draft picks back in January, and picked up Taylor Hall as well in a three-team deal. The New York Islanders are in a weird spot as we head near mid-February, as most fans around the league expect them to sell as the playoffs seem unlikely at this point, instead, they’ve been viewed as buyers. Recently, they acquired Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a draft pick, and now they’ve been connected to Vancouver Canucks’ forward Elias Pettersson. Islanders Flipping Dobson? Marco D’Amico cited a source claiming that New York Islanders’ Noah Dobson might be available via trade. D’Amico cited a rumor from The Hockey News’ Stefen Rosner who suggested the Isles may have interest in Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Pettersson, with Dobson being a piece that would have to go back in return. One of their few bright spots has been Connor Bedard, whose offensive abilities have kept Blackhawks fans intrigued with the team despite their lack of winning. Unfortunately, his success hasn't come with flack. Recently, two analysts & former players decided to grill Bedard for his recent defensive play, or lack thereof. Subban & Messier Put Bedard on Blast NHL Legend Mark Messier stated "There's no quicker way to destroy the morale of a team than to have players who don't earn their ice time" after Bedard was rewarded with power play ice time after a weak defensive effort led directly to a goal against.

The Vancouver Canucks have had plenty of rumours surrounding their team this season, with the most notable being the reported rift between star forwards Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, with trade rumours surrounding both players all season. Recently, it seems like a team has emerged as a front runner to acquire him. Blue Jackets Step Up as Frontrunners Pierre Lebrun, an insider for TSN, on top of other sources, have mentioned that the Blue Jackets and Canucks have held preliminary discussions about Pettersson and things could be moving along to a point where a deal gets done soon.

The San Jose Sharks have revealed that they will be without a few of their players until after the 4 Nations Face Off tournament is complete. Sharks’ head coach Ryan Warsofsky shared that Klim Kostin, Nico Sturm, and Jan Rutta all won’t be able to play until after the tournament.  All three players suffered a lower-body injury, and won’t be back in the lineup until the team’s first game after the tournament, which is February 23rd against the Calgary Flames. With several teams interested in bringing him in, it seems there is another player who is drawing interest on the trade market. Blue Jackets Connected to Boeser In a recent article from The Athletic, it seems as though the Canucks could lean toward trading forward Brock Boeser if they aren't able to sign him to a new contract extension.

Lots of rumours have been circulating in recent days as the Vancouver Canucks are expected to be working hard to try and trade J.T. Miller. According to Elliotte Friedman, a deal between the Canucks and New York Rangers came close to being completed but fell apart last minute. Larry Brooks, a trusted reporter for the Rangers, believes the Canucks have interest in forward Alexis Lafreniere, and defender Braden Schneider, despite the unlikeliness of those two being involved in any deal for Miller.

On Saturday (Jan. 11), a trusted pundit and journalist who produces content for the Winnipeg Jets, Carter Brooks, revealed that the Jets have an interest in acquiring New York Islanders’ forward Mathew Barzal. Barzal, who is 27 years old, has four goals and nine assists for 13 points through 21 games this season. He was drafted 16th overall by the Islanders in the 2015 NHL Entry and has notched 455 points through his 521-game career.

Earlier today, we published an article calling out the legitimacy of a report from the Jones & Keefe podcast, after he claimed there was a rift between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, which both players have entirely denied. Following Marchand’s comments in a media scrum earlier today (Jan. 10), Rich Keefe doubled down on his report, claiming that Marchand only mentioned him and the report because it is accurate, and he’s lying about denying it. 

On Friday (Jan. 10), a bombshell report dropped revealing some concerning news surrounding the struggling Boston Bruins this season. In a tweet from Jones and Keefe in reference to their podcast episode, their locker room is a disaster and it stems from an internal issue between superstars David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand.
