Some birds have claws adapted and modified to "comb" their feathers (pectinate claw), this helps them get rid of ectoparasites.

Here I decided to use my creativity and imagine a therizinosaur with something similar in the claws of its hands

Eu já tô meio cansado da discussão sobre lábios em dinossauros, mas vou abrir um espaço aqui pra entrar nesse assunto novamente apenas porque tenho visto muitas vezes sendo repetido um argumento a favor dos lábios que não considero bom. +

Today I paid attention to this study that I already knew about (by Maschenko et al., 2021). It's a really cool paper discussing this adaptation to the cold that Mammuthus primigenius has. It's a skin "hood" that covers the end of the trunk, and both males and females have it. 🦣

My poster on the life appearance of Megalosaurus, as presented at SVPCA 2024. A paper on this, and the history of M. reconstructions, is currently in the system and should (hopefully!) be published later this year. Posting this in the interim as a poss. useful #paleoart reference. #Sciart #dinosaur

"Arrows show the putative path of water flow through the olfactory cavities as the animal swam. Water entered the mouth through a diastema between the teeth and was channeled along a groove (Gr.) in the palate (indicated with dotted lines) to scooplike internal nares." 👀

- There are still some details to be done, the teeth need attention and it doesn't have eyes yet, anyway... it's not ready yet.
