Whew, finally made it! 👋 I'm Mike, a walking disaster as a hiker while also learning about disasters.

Hope to engage in the conversation of emergency management organizations in the US and improving the Search and Rescue system. I also love thru-hiking in the outdoors to gain a sense of adventure!

Was on the job today so couldn't join in on events today... And can't out loudly say where I stand, but there were definitely signs about where I stood. 🙂

Got myself a "new" (bought used) 70-300mm lens after capturing with my 24mm prime for the longest time. Already happy after a quick field test the other day!

Hiking season is near, stay safe out there!

Being one of the coordinators for this incident on the infamous Lost Coast Trail, for this level of technical complexity and challenging region, it really does take a multi-agency response for a successful rescue.

This is BAD. The NCEP data is actively used in Maritime #SAR response providing planners Monte-Carlo based models to see where distressed ships, persons in the water, or life rafts could be. This would significantly hamper search effectiveness. #EmergencyManagement #GreySky
