There was something about Magic Kingdom's Frontierland that felt eternal-- a land in stasis that would always be. I guess because so little in it had changed over the last 50 years.

Ticket books were phased out in the US Disney parks in 1982. This Tokyo Disneyland booklet is from 1983 but apparently they still had them as an option until 2001(!)
