I’m curious why you think Trump is blocking the release of the files? You know Johnson only does what Trump wants. He literally refused to swear in the rep needed for the last name on the discharge petition.

I think the most likely was nuking the filibuster when air traffic issues started hitting their donors and family. It needs to go anyway. And then the Rs would solely own everything.

I just watched Tim Miller say he knows for certain there are other Sen who would have voted yes as well. It was calculated to pick the exact number needed that could face the wrath, weren't up for reelection.

I’m no lawmaker, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn. It always looked to me like the path to success was the air traffic controllers and their call ins would impede air traffic enough that Sen Rs would either cave or nuke the filibuster. One is a short term win, one is a long term win.
