A reminder - last March, republicans promised to restore $1.1B in funding to DC in exchange for funding the government, and Mike Johnson never took it up in the House.

🔥 Yesterday, a group called "14 Suburban Moms" do a civil disobedience protest by crossing the barricade at Broadview and sitting in a circle. ✊🏼

Watch as they get arrested one by one while protestors shout "Mother Power" and blow whistles the way it's done to warn that someone is being detained‼️

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Democrats asked for ONE THING today to reopen the govt: Keep health insurance subsidies where they are at now for one year. That is IT. Nothing else.

Republicans said no.

So all the lies they tell every day about things Dems are asking for is BS.
Republicans OWN this shutdown.

Power didn’t scare her, and neither does history.

Nancy Pelosi led when others hid, stood tall when others folded. She got us through the first Trump term fearlessly.

A fighter. A force. A first.

For many years @teenvogue.com has been a beacon of diversity and progressive politics for young people (and the articles were also edifying for older folks like me; I have shared many!) How terrible to see Condé Nast knuckle under to those who want to erase these important voices and ideas. SHAME!
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.
