The process for obtaining these documents is not new. Digitization is now decades old. Retrieving these documents should be simple. www.readtheline.ca/p/mitch-heim...
Mitch Heimpel: Our processes are a problem
There's a reason Carney and Ford are both advocating bills that bypass regulations — they know the regulations are broken, and fixing that is very, very hard.

Even though we live in a time where each day produces a thousand fresh outrages, the sight of Donald Trump and Elon Musk duking it out last week in full view of the public still managed to stun.

Andrew MacDougall: Trump and Elon both know how to fight attention wars
In the modern political economy, the point is to be seen. And it works. We can't look away.

This isn’t hard to understand. In an era dominated by stories of financial pain and geopolitical upheaval, climate concerns became a luxury belief in the eyes of millions of Canadian voters. www.readtheline.ca/p/chris-ross...
Chris Ross: Where and how Tories and Liberals disagree on climate
And why our policies changed to match the politics.

Marc Garneau died Wednesday, at the age of 76. His passing was announced by his wife, Pam, who said that he’d been surrounded by family at the end, and had received excellent care during an unspecified short illness.

Tom Spears: Marc Garneau's ambition for Canada
Throughout a career that took him from the navy to NASA to the federal cabinet, Marc Garneau never lost his focus on discipline, honesty, and competence.

The next war isn’t going to look like what you expect. And I am wondering, in much the same way that fictional Starfleet captain did, if we are living through one of those historical pivot points without fully realizing it. www.readtheline.ca/p/matt-gurne...
Matt Gurney: The next war isn't going to look like what you expect
And we are not ready for it. Our enemies might be, though.

I wish I could condemn Jen and Matt for their (again, implied) characterization of the U.K. — Britain has needed no urging to unapologetically assert its own interests in this revived era of Trump. But I can’t. www.readtheline.ca/p/greg-quinn...
Greg Quinn: I regret that it's now Britain that's being the ass
I admire Canada's unapologetic asserting of its rights. I wish my country wasn't acting with such cowardice.

“Mr. Eby is a snake oil salesman,” said Don Tom, vice-president of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, and a former NDP ally on UNDRIP who admitted he voted for Eby’s party in the last election. www.readtheline.ca/p/rob-shaw-i...
Rob Shaw: In one month, Eby went from Indigenous ally to villain
The NDP government pushed through contentious legislation called Bill 15, which First Nations have pledged to protest and challenge in court.
