This actually makes some cool choices. I’ll have to see the original, of which this is sort of a meta-reboot: it acknowledges the original movie as having been based on a true story that now continues.

All horror fans *must* read this book. You’re going to get a history not just of the rich legacy of Black horror, but of america and movies and a lot of other stuff. It’s a disturbing tale told through lens of something fun, kind of like horror itself.

In the thousand+ movies I remember watching, I’ve never seen a #horror film use real images to effectively convey a major plot point. In a brilliantly meta way, the vastly underrated Tales from the Hood 2 does this, both to tell its own story and honor the wishes of a grieving mother.
