It's pretty clear that LLMs will not lead to AGI a la @garymarcus.bsky.social.
However, the bigger question is, could present neoliberal regimes respond to the dislocation of AGI given their animus to the welfare state?

The counterargument to this is that Large Language Models have been publicly available for several years now and they appear to have plateaued in performance.
