Minimum wage for Quebec’s hourly employees will rise from $16.10 to $16.60 and from $12.90 to $13.30 for tipped employees as of May 1. The 3.11 per cent increase will affect around 258,900 workers across the province.

The town of Hampstead in Montreal plans to install 50 surveillance cameras in public areas, including parks, walking paths, municipal buildings, and other “hotspots.” The system, which will be made available to the city’s police “if/when needed,” will be capable of recording both audio and video.

The Concordia Stingers extended their win streak to five with a 3–0 shutout of the Queen’s Gaels on Jan. 17. Hugo Primeau and Sean Larochelle scored early, Alexandre Nadeau added the empty-netter, and Nicolas Hurtubise made 16 saves.

Concordia’s Soccer department is working to bring the Stingers to the highest level and go for the championship title with players who have a team-first mentality.

“Our goal every year is to try and win championships,” said Stingers Soccer director Greg Sutton.
