I can’t believe how terrible #Crew96 have become, and how quickly. Our defense is lackluster, at best, and our offense is non-existent.

ICYMI w/ @lorenzofb.bsky.social: Apple's latest iPhone security feature will make life much more difficult for spyware makers and the security flaws they rely on the most.

One exploit maker said this new feature will raise the cost of developing and selling hacking tools for newer iPhones.

Apple launched a new security feature for iPhone 17 and iPhone Air designed to reduce the effect of memory corruption bugs, and in turn make spyware and zero-days more difficult to hack into iPhones.

All the @notion.com gurus are saying not to change existing databases over to use the brand new multi-source capabilities.

So of course I did the exact opposite.

Are cyber letters of marque a good idea? I weighed in on this topic in my latest newsletter.

TLDR; they are a terrible idea for #cybersecurity companies.

I received this snippet in an email today from a service that is starting to enforce 2FA (good). The ability to simply click a link and send a recovery code to a new email address is quite BAD.

At this point, turning on 2FA for everyone is more a placebo than anything.

Security enhancements I'd really like to see in @bsky.app
- Passkeys (physical or biometric)
- App based 2FA (email 2FA isn't enough)

NEW, by me: A cybercrime forum called Leak Zone, which offers access to breached databases and stolen credentials, was found exposing the IP addresses of its logged-in users to the open web, per security researchers.

The database, now offline, was connected to the internet without a password.

For the past 10 years or so my #marketing work has been heavily focused on the #cybersecurity space.

Despite that, the marketing and business insights I share skew toward general info rather than being industry specific.

It’s time to change that.
