Well #philsky, my idea for the APA diversity grant wasn't funded: African American Philosophy Center and Reading Room. 20 bucks says none of them go to faculty at HBCUs.

I'm thinking of writing fiction for a whole year, taking a break from academic writing. The world of #philosophy doesn't need me. I am largely not needed. I am a husk of myself as much as philosophy is never needed except to tick a box for SACSCOC accreditation. #writingcommunity

I and Thou is such a wonderfully beautiful and evocative text. It achieves an existential clarity and discerns structures of experience alongside the reader. I wish more philosophers would take notice how to stir the soul into contemplation by prose alone. #philosophy

I asked a Dean should I be part of & writing grants for a BA in #English when they might cancel it? Like what's the point of me serving in this capacity. I think my magnum opus of a book might just be some type of book that just doubles down on the power I have long associated with the #humanities.

Well, Academic Affairs is thinking of canceling the BA in English despite our $124,000 grant to improve our facilities. So not even getting a rare humanities grant can save you from the violence of neoliberalism and its effect on the humanities.

There is no dumber phrase in academic writing, or any writing than "We as humans/We as human beings." 'We' is a personal pronoun. It implies more than one of us...as in human beings. Normal usage implies more than 1 human. #philsky #philosophy #writingcommunity

German scholarship on Scheler‘s departure from Catholicism saddles him with “pantheism.” It’s as if generations of these commentaries are held prisoner by Spinoza. A panentheism never occurs to them and this why I am right. #philsky

My panel proposal "Beloved Community in American Philosophy" has been accepted on the program at the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy. The theme is fitting since this is the first time an HBCU has played host to the conference. It's at Howard in DC. #philsky #MLK #poltheory.
