The way Nappa freezes at Vegetas order is great. Vegetas been kind of an enigma. Because Nappa is such an overwhelming force, the idea of such a monster being scared of someone so much smaller is a great subversion.

Tenshinhans death has a little more impact than Chaozus because the kikoho COULD have taken out Nappa, if Nappa hadn't braced himself. And yet... Nappa tanks it with barely a scratch, and another fighter is down

Here it is, after 25 episodes of build up where we've seen Gohan go from a crying toddler to a fledgling warrior, one of the strongest beings on earth: and he gets his first real taste of combat. Its up to him to take out Nappa, and hes back to the scared kid we met before. He wasn't ready.

Theres something really unnerving about Vegeta in episode 25. Piccolo forms a strategy to take advantage of Nappas distraction, and hopefully take him out. And Vegeta COMMENTS on it. He listens in and instead of stopping them, he wishes them luck. He's bristling with earned confidence

So I think Chaozus death is probably the least interesting, because he wasn't contributing otherwise, and his sacrifice basically means nothing. But I think its cool that Piccolo acknowledges his bravery and cunning, given he was an enemy so recently.

Nappa is such a cool step up from Raditz. Raditz effortlessly blitzes Goku, Krillin, and Piccolo on their first meetings. The saibamen are said to be just as strong and the crew is able to easily dispatch them. Them Nappa comes along and starts pushing back the Z fighters by just powering up.

Not the last awesome thing Krillin does, but certainly one of the most memorable, is when he chooses to stand up against all 4 of the remaining Saibamen in Yamchas honor. And he isn't making an empty threat. Krillin stands on business and it's awesome.

Vegeta taking out one of his own saibamen is awesome, because the Z fighters were getting confident, and when Vegeta does that, they're terrified. More importantly, NAPPA and the other Saibamen are terrified, and they're on Vegetas side. Even Piccolo Daimo didn't demonstrate this level of evil.

Something often forgotten about Yamchas death here is that it ISN'T a joke. Its seen as one now, but Yamcha was considered just as strong as the others, and he WINS against a Saibaman at first. But he lets his guard down, and pays for it. Its a grim reminder that no one is safe.

Oh goody. I was dreading hearing some of the dubisms. I forgot about kay-oken instead of Kaioken, and about Namekians being called "Nameks." But at least it isn't as bad as raditz yelling "darn it" or constantly talking about being sent to "the next dimension"

From roughly episode 7 to 19 all the characters go through training arcs, and Gohans reminded me why hes my favorite character. The way he shows his kindness and builds his sense of right and wrong are just so endearing

Something about this kid in episode 21 is really haunting. The scene opens with her asking her dad if they can get lunch, and only a few minutes later she and everyone in the city are gone. What a terrifying way to properly introduce the saiyans.
