I was taught that writing was about
Subtlety and #undertones
Then I learned that you need to shout
As no one reads the bones

Tea leaves and ashes
Mysticism and literacy
All my lessons are dashes
All my faith is heresy

I'm a former evangelical pastor turned progressive, and I've started a newsletter to chronicle how we got into this MAGA mess because it may help show us the way out.

I've had a comic book thought and I'm going to post it here.
In regards to the non-canon pairing of Wonder Woman and either Superman or Batman, one fan asked what either of these do for the character of WW. With that in mind, I wondered what DC hero would make a good match.

As a teen in the 80s, my friend and I rented this and the newly released on video A Nightmare on Elm Street. We expected to love the classic Massacre but didn't expect much from Nightmare. We were wrong on both counts.

Massacre just wasn't enough of what we expected from a horror movie.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is so beautifully directed, and the cinematography is amazing. #Horrorsky

Reading Sarah Wynn-Williams's exposé on Meta, and honestly, it's so much worse than TikTok. But of course, no one will clamp down on them - even though they're selling user data to China.

So, to clarify, TX. You hate when the government "oversteps" when it comes to business and labor, but you have no problem when it has oversight on what women can do with their bodies OR who Universities hired to teach students.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

I hope Greg Abbot gets chronic hemorrhoids.
Texas legislators considering a bill that would put all public university course curricula and faculty hiring in the hands of ruling party political appointees and politicians, effectively ending academic freedom.
Texas bill would increase oversight of universities’ hiring, curriculum and compliance
Senate Bill 37 would create a state office to investigate complaints against universities and require governing boards to ensure courses don’t endorse certain ideologies.

If you are frustrated with the current situation and don't know what else to do, reach out to someone local and like-minded and tell them you'd like to join a protest. You don't even have to have one in mind. Just start that conversation.

I'm very active on Notes (Substack's social media), but I'm building my audience there and can't just vent and rant and share without restraint. I'd like Bluesky to be the place I can say all this things that I can't say elsewhere. 😄
