Breaking this pattern of authoritarianism and capitulation requires more than just new leaders or new policies. It means practicing solidarity in our own communities, supporting spaces for authentic participation, and experimenting with new forms of governance.

How we practice governance in this country isn’t sustainable against the complexity and interdependence of the 21st century. It’s transactional, adversarial, and fails to harness the collective intelligence of our communities.

The dominant narrative focused on the political horse trading that "ended" the crisis. But we find the more important narratives where solidarity held firm.
And the question remains...
Why can’t we participate in a process where this kind of practical solidarity is the rule, not the exception?
