@amandapreston.bsky.social Hi Amanda. I just tried to send you a submission via the lba website but the 'Submit work to Amanda' button takes me to the MSN news page. Is there a problem at your end, or is it at mine? Regards. Terry

While UK death rates rose
And politicians chose
To whack-a-mole and estimate and guess,
You put yourself in danger
For every single stranger
So thank you and
Protect the NHS.

Dedicated to all medical professionals who put themselves at risk throughout Covid

As friends and colleagues died
And politicians lied
And black bin-bags were used for P.P.E.
You were the ones who went to work,
Who held our hands and did not shirk
And saved our lives in wards and A and E.

On the 5th anniversary of Covid, this is dedicated to Michael Gove, Matt Hancock and Michelle Mone.

There was a crooked man
Who needed PPE
He dished out crooked money
From a crooked money-tree,
He gave some crooked contracts
To crooked companies.
To favourites and donors
And their crooked VIPs

It's five years this week since Covid hit the UK. Many of us lost people we cared about, and at the time a wrote a few poems to reflect my anger at what was happening. This was a response to Matt Hancock's claim about the elderly.

Just missed out on the prize of a free writing retreat in Greece. Shortlisted for my story 'True Blue'. Definitely entering again next year.

I'm sorting out a box of my old comics and am trying to get my head around grading. What do people make of these?

As Michael Jackson said:
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could've been any clearer
If they wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

Donald Trump. Burger eating surrender monkey.

What are people reading right now? I'm into Adam Nevill's The Ritual. Spooky goings on in a Swedish forest. 😱 It's helping me get my head into the right space while writing my new folk horror novel. Do any of you do similar, or do you avoid genre novels while writing?

This was in the box that keeps on giving. Can anyone advise me on a rough grade?

Any fool can end a war if they are willing to offer a complete surrender.

Another favourite from my boxes of delight up in the loft. This is the first appearance of Swamp Thing.

Just watching Handmaid's Tale again and realised why Trump wants Canada as the 51st state. It's so there is nowhere to seek asylum when he creates Gilead.

Just pulled The Origin of Species from the bookshelf. Its not an easy read but worth the effort. Happy Charles Darwin Day.
