The messages start with a reply to a Discord DM from me that says "and i will write the Shiiko Lives And Deals With Life After The War fanfic myself" this topic invades my brain so frequently because its so fucking interesting to think about the two outcomes of "shiiko joins the titans" and "shiiko does not but still has to deal with life after the war". especially in a UC timeline where she's- True! sorry where was i. especially in a UC timeline where she's more like. faced with positive newtype connotations cause a lot of people like. joke about her being a bigot or whatever but the reason she dislikes newtypes and says all that isn't stemming from hatred, but from *sheer frustration* and trauma her mav was said to be a newtype, that they could do anything, and they died and she says herself "there is nobody who can have anything they want" "i settled for a normal life and accepted that" the loss of her mav - her partner in battle - fucked her up bigtime (An unrelated message is cut out.) her saying newtypes are a myth and propaganda isn't her being hateful, it's her *coping with trauma and loss* because she literally buried it down by living a normal life but no yeah i think *With that in mind* it is interesting to think about all the possible outcomes for her. especially in a "she joins the titans" timeline because would she *even* subscribe to that ideology? would it be a result of her trauma, of trying to "punish" those who do the same thing as her, basically just resulting in her lashing out due to the fact that *she* couldn't get that? or would she act more like, say, emma, and realize the cruelty at hand, maybe she'd think about her family, her boy, and reconsider, maybe that's help her "snap" more back to her adult life, or something. i dunno its interesting to think about for sure cause i think there's genuinely an interesting story to "shiiko who joins the titans at her lowest point, and basically just fights to prove those wrong, to reinforce her own trauma, because she's so caught up in it she doesn't think others 'deserve' to live the life that she was denied, she thinks others need to suffer like her" or something adjacent you get the idea Nimi, my friend: "an interpretation that i like in part due to its shallowness is that she could end up joining the titans just for the sake of fighting again to me shiiko actually inherits a key trait of _char_ from zeta which is that her identity is inextricably linked with war and she feels lost outside of it" Me: "yeah yeah yeah no yeah i definitely think that because she finds herself right on the battlefield, she says herself she "never lost that war" (A reply to the message about her joining the Titans just to fight again.) i definitely like this one too though just to kinda fill a hole as well" Nimi: you might cite her self confidence in being a decorated soldier but she must have known that she could die trying to destroy the red gundam Me: "like she finds she can't settle down, especially with everything on her mind, and the thought of things starting up again, it tells her, hey, you never lost. you're still fighting. you still CAN fight"
