My testknit magiclands wrap by @ambahobrien.bsky.social using my Nebula kit is getting too big to photograph well. The light pooling and streaking across the dust clouds of the nebula makes my 💛 sing. The tiny pops of pink & blue speckles amidst the other speckles are everything I had hoped for 🧶

I made a start on my brioche border of my mkal shawl

Im planning on doing the 3 brioche sections but im also itching to cast on a special testknit as well so i might set this aside for a little bit 🤔

I have one of this kit thats dyeing now on singles (Electric Blue, Purple Blush, Pink Dream, and Peach Burst on mohair and singles) in the shop.

There is a LOT going on (Stephen West’s mystery knits are always very visually complex) The colours are a dark bright blue, a lilacish purple, a warm pink and a peachy orange with splashes of neon yellows. On the left there is a slip stitch section that looks like a woven pattern, below that is a diamond pattern in repeating rows of colour. Scrunched up at the bottom right is a section of repeating “fan” shapes and above that is a ripples squiggle section that has thinner stripes at the middle of the shawl which become larger at the right edge Same arrangement of the shawl as the previous section but the focus is on the diamonds and slipped stitches. From left to right the colours flow from dark blue to greens to greys to creams and finally dark brown There is a skein of yellowish green yarn underneath the knitting to show it will be added next as the hem and collar. I will hold the same colour of mohair with it so it creates the same fabric as the cuffs. Same photo arrangement as the previous photo but zoomed in and rotated slightly so the main focus is on the newly finished dark blue cuff and some of the body. Just a little bit of progress to show today

Jolly Cardy being test knit for @ambahobrien.bsky.social using my Winter Whisper kit on Singles with mohair held double. Im using 5 colours of mohair for the body and Im dyeing up the same contrast colour on mohair for the button & waistband 🧶

I forgot to take photos yesterday and I made a lot of progress 😂😍

Testing the Jolly Cardy for @ambahobrien.bsky.social using my Winter Whisper kit with the 5 mohair options, thinking of dyeing a 6th & using the bright 100g skein for the waistband & collar held with the same colour mohair 🧶#knitsky

I havent been able to put it down 😍

So making progress on the sleeve and thinking about what colour to use for the collar, button band and waist. I could use the bright golden greenish colour or the more subtle blended skein

I think im going to knit the rest before deciding

There is a ball of mohair and a small ball of singles attached as they are being knit. Next to the sleeve are 3 miniskeins which are to be added in order from the brown to dark brown. day 4 of my woolsia shawl 💛🌸🌞🧶

Im using leftovers of my Spring Sunrise kit and adding the next colour when the one I’m using runs out.
Im wondering if i should keep it just the warm colours or if i should add the blue for a few rows 🤔

Played with some blue and yellow combinations for a custom order 🤍🩵💛💚💙 on Twist DK

Love the green that comes from this combination

Hopefully this has hit the right colours for the customer and we can come up with a coordinating skein or two 😍🤔

Making progress on my woolsia shawl using leftovers of my Spring Sunrise kit

Im just joining the yarn as the colours run out so I’m using every bit of 🧶 i can and its working out beautifully 💛🌞🌸 added bonus: its easy to knit but gives a stunning result

Start of my shawl This is a photo of day 1’s knitting There are 11 small balls of yarn and a bit of knitting laying on a white backround The shawl begins with bright neon yellows becoming more golden and a few peachy rows. The current peachy colour being knit is the ball at the top right of the knitting. The rest of the balls are arranged from right to left in the order they will be joined. The knitting is on a cable with interchangeable wooden needles, there is also a neon pink heart stitch marker at the beginning of the right side row so i remember to do my increases that side and decreases on the other side Start of my shawl This is a photo of day 2’s knitting There are 8 small balls of yarn and a bit more knitting laying on a white backround The shawl begins with bright neon yellows becoming more golden then a peachy oranges and soft reddish orange rows. The soft reddisg peachy being knit is the ball at the top right of the knitting. The rest of the balls are arranged from right to left in the order they will be joined. Yarn prepping for 2 customers + @ Cosy Cottage Yarn. Im the featured dyer for September so I have a bunch of new colours drying on the line + some mohair to dye tomorrow to go with the new colours 🧶

There are little strands of coloured string also visible near the ties. These are attached by the mill and help dyers know what each base is. The blue here is around the MCN fingering weight yarn and the yellow is around the Platinum DK yarn. This yarn will soak overnight in water before being dyed

I was asked to dye some Nebula variations: a lighter 100g skein and fluff

So now you can have 5 fluff colours or just the 4 you prefer and a gorgeous skein i couldnt help naming Nebula 25B is its default name but Starlight seemed perfect 🧶 #knitsky

I played with some Nebula kit skeins and im now watching (hovering really) while there is a bit of sunshine after some heavy downpours.

The light blue is an extra fluff colour to go with the kit and the lighter 100g skeins are an alternative to the darker 25: Expanse option

Ive made a Mohair and Bonus extras listing for the Nebula kit.

From left to right mohair are Nebula 26, 27, 28, and 29. The two fingering skeins are Nebula 25 Expanse (i couldnt resist giving this skein a name based on the large section of the inspiration image that inspired it)

Today is predicted to be a little bit cloudy but no rain so Im making use of the fresh air and sunshine to finish drying these skeins
