Ground breaking works from Agata Burian’s lab showing beautiful self organizing patterns of internal vasculature strands ahead of epidermal auxin maxima! Most importantly, the new opening strands form convergent angles that close to those observed in Fibonacci, Lucas, and Bijugated spiral patterns.
Self-organization of vascular strands drives their patterning in the Arabidopsis shoot apex
In plants, the development of the shoot vascular system is closely coordinated with lateral organ formation at the shoot apical meristem. Despite exte…

Enjoy the view! This is clearly the best ever science experience I have had emerging from fruitful collaboration with @ucalgary.bsky.social @tengzhanguh.bsky.social @helsinki.fi and funded by the Research Council of Finland
Have you ever wondered what’s inside the head of a flower? Researchers @ucalgary.bsky.social @helsinki.fi and the CLS used our synchrotron’s X-ray imaging to map the structure of daisy-like plants, revealing a vein network that moves water and nutrients. Paper: https://bit.ly/4mBnqcZ

Happy to see this out and for the opportunity to contribute!! The puzzle of Asteraceae inflorescence development jumps one step forward (a big step 😅) 🌻
We are absolutely thrilled to share this work on CLV signaling in the sunflower family! This project was only possible through the efforts and contributions of our incredible collaborators! It also represents the CapituLab’s first preprint! (more to come soon though…)

A new really exciting preprint from @thecapitulab.bsky.social, my PhD lab, and many others
One of the many interesting findings - The sequence evolution of CLV3 and changes to CLV signaling is required for capitulum development. CLEs make sunflowers!

We’re excited to share our new preprint on wheat spike development! We used spatial transcriptomics and scRNA-seq to take a closer look at the different cell types and expression domains during key developmental stages of the wheat spike. Check it out here:

The requirement for mobility is problematic at all levels of academia. Women, carers, people with disabilities and others are excluded because of exclusionary practices and attitudes.
More than 40 percent of #postdocs leave academia. Those who landed a coveted faculty position were more likely to have had a highly cited paper, changed their research topic between their #PhD and postdoc, or moved abroad after receiving their doctorate. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/... @pnas.org
