Lots of excitement at #Anaesthesia2025 about #NAP8. @ajrmacfarlane.bsky.social shares the progress so far.

NAP8 will cover central neuraxial blocks, peripheral nerve blocks, local anaesthetic infiltration, periop nerve injury & spinal cord injury - a big topic!

Interesting…
Pre-operative use of GLP-1s is known to delay gastric emptying, but does that translate to an increased risk of pulmonary aspiration?

This systematic review and meta-analysis suggests NO.

Ok this isn't a great video because the gasses weren't plugged in, but I think its fascinating that this is how the manual hypoxic guard works on old anaesthetic machines.

Simple but efficient :)

Low volumes + PEEP >> high volumes and no PEEP. Very interesting!
One wonders if it’s the low Vt or the addition of PEEP doing the work here.

Merry Christmas from the College of Operating Department Practitioners 🎄🎁🎄

A huge thank you to all those Operating Department Practitioners spending the Christmas period caring for patients – And for those who have some time off this Christmas, enjoy the break as much as possible.

I do this all the time 😂
Word of the day is a favourite, from old Scots.

To ‘tartle’ is to hesitate while introducing someone because you have completely forgotten their name.

✔️ Today’s pharmacology workshops, helped by team doodling and mind-mapping. Useful to explore key topics around use, safety and governance in anaesthesia 👏🏼

I like this term. Who “sniffs the morning air” these days anyway? Learners don’t grasp the concept… #flextension 👍🏻

Excellent short learning for trainee anaesthetic practitioners 👏🏼👏🏼
Want to improve your Basic Bag-Valve-Mask Ventilation skills? Here's a VERY short course I made that's free and will only take 5-10 minutes.
