After redoing my home network, I would not use the 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x ip spaces again. Changing IP addresses of Kubernetes and vital network services is a massive pain and routers sometimes have defaults in those IP spaces.

Why is Postman so popular? Is there any workflow that is easier and faster in Postman than in cURL?

An APC battery backup UPS sounds an alarm when the battery fails. And the only way to cancel it is to turn the whole thing off. It's awful by design. Which unnecessarily makes the battery the single point of failure. Which is what I wanted to eliminate by getting a UPS in the first place.

I eliminated 59 package dependencies with almost no code changes by replacing MochaJS with the new-ish @nodejs.org test runner.

Most disappointing technology I spent time learning: Ansible.

Look, I know admin scripting isn't as performance-critical as, say, a database, but this is ridiculous. It's too slow for even a home network, let alone an office with 100 or more workers.

Shell scripts are loaded line by line as they run. If you edit and save a script while it's running, it'll lose its place.

I got a book on Unicode but I found it difficult to follow the story. Too many characters.

A digital "signature" for a contract that collects an IP address for their records... but:
1) IP means nothing, they are easy to spoof and I could be doing this from anywhere -- hotel, coffee shop, friend's house, VPN...
2) A `10._._._` IP address? That's the back-side of their router.

I’m not saying AI is good or bad (it’s both) but have you ever noticed how the only social network where AI is generally viewed favourably is LinkedIn?

Made a passport holder for myself to match one I made for my wife last year. Same style but hers has a tab flap and a credit card holder on the back, while mine has a rear-attached full flap.

For the three hundred millionth time: SAFARI DOES NOT IMPLY MOBILE.

Check for capabilities not devices. Support capabilities, not devices.

To detect touch screens, use the `ontouchstart` event.
To detect small screens, use media queries.

Code Gremlins:
(1) Keep your programmers out of direct sunlight,
(2) Don't give your laptop any water, not even to drink,
(3) Most important rule, and you can never forget, no matter how much the PM cries, no matter how much the customer begs, never feed GitHub after midnight.

What I like so far about Encore:
- DevOps tooling is rich, making it easy to browse APIs and deploy
- I love how the database handling is so simple, and the queries are parameterized using template literals.

Building a new TypeScript web app scaffold and considering whether to keep using ExpressJS or move on.

I like ExpressJS's simplicity and large community, but it's quite old, and Express 5 probably won't go anywhere, and I'm worried it's going to hold me back.

So Fastify? Koa?

Released version 2.1.0 of `test-battery`. Test-battery replaces `chai` with a better concept of assertion library:
- Handles promises the same as immediate values,
- Has better flow control to gather more test failures.

The new update is plays well with TypeScript.
