Apple not supporting a login to the AppStore on a virtual machine is such a pain. It would be so nice for testing.

Why Apple? Why do you hate us developers so much?

So, apparently IMDB got bought by Amazon ages ago but now pushes the use of the Amazon account.

I guess the surprise is only really the time it took.

I don't mind allowing to connect accounts - but forcing universal logins is so bad. It always has - it will always will be.

"A post-American, enshittification-resistant internet" is worth a watch/listen.

I really like the take that repealing anti-circumvention laws might be the better response to the current situation we are stuck in.

Clippy would like that.

Alan Dye, the "genius" behind Liquid Glass, is leaving Apple for Meta. Stephen Lemay is taking over. Now there's at least a little hope they might fix things.

I can already hear developers and users rejoicing.

I just came across one of the most interesting projects in a long time:

Reticulum - a fresh perspective on the networking stack

...and then you read that the main dev had to step down.

At some point projects just need to move to a more community managed model. #OSS

Chat control fight - round two.

reclaimthenet.org/eu-council-a...

This feels like we are fighting on two fronts at the same time. The blue/brown crowd and the ones that make it hard to argue for the EU.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Shared package registries and to some extend CI/CD pipelines are becoming more and more of a liability.

Providing your CI/CD pipeline with terraform/k8s/ssh access?

You better know what you are doing.

Credit to @reckless.bsky.social for asking these questions. I've given The Verge stick for an overt unwillingness to engage on these points in print, and seeing them finally discuss the most seismic mobile platform story of the past 15 years with @timbl.bsky.social is a great start.

The benevolent dictator model feels tempting for #OSS - faster, fewer debates. Then a PR argument with the single person in charge reminds me:

Speed isn’t health. Community is.

Kids are a good way to explain LLMs.

- Trained on limited data.
- Answer based on that limited data are often incorrect and/or involve poo references.
- Hallucinate answers like they can't eat because there are squirrels in the wardrobe.
- Will say yOu'Re aBsOluTeLy RighT and do the opposite anyway
