It’s not so much they’re inherently good and can change — that’s a movie trope — it’s that they’re Christian and they’re sinners who gave right up until the moment of death to seek divine forgiveness. Which they then declare as granted.
One of the most important things I had to unlearn from my childhood in a white-only town was something all white children are taught: that all white people are inherently good and can change if given the benefit of the doubt.

The point of nationalizing DC policing is to physically control access to Congress and SCOTUS if he loses midterms. That’s the fail safe.
