Eggs are finally getting to the price they should be for the work and time it takes to do them right.
Wholesale price for a dozen large white eggs is on the version of hitting $8, per USDA data.

Had to share this beautiful moment of serenity
This long exposure infrared image was made on Moccasin Creek in Rabun County Georgia. I used a full spectrum Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8 lens and a 720nm filter. Processed in Lightroom.

Get out there.

A federal court has declared that warrantless searches of US person’s communications collected for national security purposes is unconstitutional. Now it’s our job to make sure Congress knows that when they renew this law in a little over a year.

Feeling helpless? Want to do something other than doomscroll and scream into an echo chamber? Get back to community. Find organizations that share your values. Get to know new people and help in little ways. Start local. It doesn't have to be more than what you can handle.

Interesting, but sense of scale needed too. Article says optimizing food freezing temps worldwide would cut GHGs by 17 Mt CO2e. But global food-related GHGs are >1,000x that (~18 Gt CO2e). Thus <0.1% reduction.

Big ticket items: improve agriculture, cut food waste, shift diets, end deforestation.
We’re over-freezing our food. Turning up the temperature slightly could avoid 17 Mt of CO2.

The international freezing standard for food is -18 °C, a temperature that carries a huge emissions cost. What if we increased that to -15 °C?
