Terrorism legislation is State violence.
It ruptures communities and immobilises them for fear of being labeled a "terrorist."
In this article I make a psychological case for deproscription, esp given the current push to proscribe Palestine Action.

Why I wrote an expert report supporting the case to deproscribe Hamas in the UK
The widespread anxiety around speaking up for Palestine stems from the severe consequences that may follow

“What happens to us in the future? Do we become assholes or something?”

I thought of this line from Back to the Future when considering the renewed policy of sending migrants to Guantanamo. It's nothing new, rather it’s central to the architecture of US violence

Trump sending migrants to Guantanamo isn't new
Trump is not the first US president to confine migrants in Guantanamo, but this sets back over 20 years of campaigning for its closure, explains Asim Qureshi.

interesting to see how Zionists aren’t up in arms at an American president calling to annex land supposedly promised to them? Israel PM sat their nodding. Maybe he knows it’s coming his way, or maybe it was never about who is indigenous. White supremacy supports white supremacy

Thinking this morning of all my Syrian friends, many of whom I first met in a refugee camp in Greece in 2015.

They spoke of bring tortured in Assad’s prisons, the pain of having to leave family behind, and the scent of the fruit trees in Damascus.

May they find home again.

Zoe Rogers turned 21 a few weeks ago while inside prison for shutting down an Elbit weapons site - a company directly involved in the ongoing genocide in Palestine. She is one of the bravest souls in the UK.

This is Zoe’s brave mother, reading a poem by her incarcerated daughter. 1/3

Our Racial Justice Researcher @tarekyounis.bsky.social contributed to new report by @runnymedetrust.bsky.social on Islamophobia in the UK. He speaks to Islamophobia's implications for mental health, the ways MH structures are weaponised, & the necessity to recognise the politics of health & healing
1/ Delighted to contribute to @runnymedetrust.bsky.social's report on Islamophobia.
I wrote a chapter on mental health. It takes the political roots of Islamophobia (and its impact on Muslims) seriously, challenging simplistic narratives and emphasising systemic change.
