Progress on environment painting. Working on the abstract polygonic Christmas tree. I struggled somewhat with this but perseverance is key. I am also starting to make blobby brush strokes to ween my brain off flat #scifi #conceptart style.

Anyhoo, back to art posting. I parked my Dia de los Muertos Skull island piece (I missed it anyways and have a full year to finish). Instead I am already thinking Christmas and my love for #Tron1982 - so hopefully I can turn this into something useful namely a #Tron themed Christmas painting. 1/2
Concept art work in progress: Tron themed environment in perspective looking up; a control tower that will have a neon/circuit/rings like Christmas tree. There will be circuit panels and a Programme with a disk in hero pose with one knee bent. Man, I love and miss the 80s. And when I was a kid I had a mighty crush on Tron. 🥰 I am still mad that with subsequent movies his story got diminished to in the end nothing, not even a mention. He’s the titular character yet Flynn Flynn Flynn. Come on! 😂 rant over.

In fact, these are the only two colours in the main design, except for the logos. It feels unfinished though, and I might work on it a little more, or maybe not. It was a fast and lazy one after all.

We went to Bandung, West Java (Sunda), Indonesia for a few days. One of the places we visited was Galeri Seomardja at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). ITB is like the Cambridge/Oxford of Indonesia.

These were my favourite paintings.The first landscape image has dynamic brush strokes,which I love.

If you experience thus #YoutubeDown issue whereby videos your selected don’t play, try restarting your device. Seems like the world (incl myself) seems to have forgotten about the no1 troubleshoot. (Thanks to OH for reminding me!). Try it and I hope it helps.

The completed painting of “The Guardian” an Ammonite that guards a sunk temple dedicated to the beautiful and sacred Soft Coral and Hard Coral in the oceans of Exoplanet Centauri Proxima B. The Ammonite is massive and its ringed shell is bright colors of (pinks, purples, yellows, sienna, burnt umbers and grays) colors reflecting the colors of the coral and surrounding topography. Middle phase WIP of “The Guardian” colors are kept in high key knowing that at the ending pass of color will be glazing a Turquoise Blue color. Color palette used as follows: Titanium White, Bismuth Vanadate Yellow, Quinacridone Violet, Burnt Umber, Medium Grey, Phthalo Blue and Paynes Grey. The Grisaille of “The Guardian” grey scale ranging from 1 thru 10. Grey Scale Pallet used: Titanium White, Davy’s Grey and Paynes Grey.

With that said, I did like TRON Legacy when it came out and still enjoy the visuals. So much so, that I attempted bridging Classic TRON and TL in this Christmas poster/card. I would like to paint something akin to classic Tron this time. Not sure Ares red visuals inspire me as much. 1/2

Made the mistake of seeing a short clip of Mark Kermode’s verdict of #Tron Ares. Now my enthusiasm is curbed. Also, people point out certain allegations against Leto, the one actor I was least excited about even before I heard of those.
I feel I’ll watch it solely for Jeff, Bruce and the creatives.

This one shows dusk sky (what else is new?) some mountains and rolling hills in BG and path currently lit up with torches towards a big skull rock that will be decorated in paintings for Dia De Los Muertos/ Day if the Dead. Will I be able to sneak in some Mezcal? 😅
