On Friday 5th December we were honoured to host Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education, Kim McGuinness, the Mayor of the North East and our local MP Luke Akehurst.

On Friday 5th December we were honoured to host Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education, Kim McGuinness, the Mayor of the North East and our local MP Luke Akehurst.
We would like to thank The Tanfield Association for coordinating the 'Tanfield Through Time' exhibition with Year 7 students. Students completed a quiz as they worked through the Exhibition and learnt about our rich history.

Well done Y8! You've had a successful first work experience day completing a challenge linked to Health and Social care. Other activities in our first careers week include a presentation for Y11 about sixth form at Whickham school and a visit to a Public Sectors careers fair for some of Y10.

We are so proud of Bobby who completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks (over 25 miles) for charity as part of TEAM BETTY. They raised over £1000 for the Lily Foundation. Bobby and his cousin Oliver were amazing and never complained, despite the horrendous weather. Well done boys!

Year 10 Business and iMedia students had a fantastic opportunity to go to Northumbria Water's Work Experience Festival. They engaged in workshops, tackled real-world challenges and met industry professionals. The organisers made a point of celebrating the creativity and teamwork of the group.

Careers week continues with more 1:1 personal guidance for Y8, 9 and 10. Gateshead College spoke with Y9 and Y10 about pathways available post 16, explaining the importance of good GCSE grades to progress towards our dream careers. Well done everyone. Great focus and ambition.

This July and August, students at Tanfield have been invited to take part in a National Read-Aloud Challenge. They will have the opportunity to win prizes at a school and national level. We look forward to seeing Tanfield students on the National Read-Aloud Challenge Leaderboard!
