Of just 25 men in VFL/AFL history to coach 300 games, John Longmire’s winning percentage of 62.9 per cent is bettered by only five - Chris Scott, Dick Reynolds, Jock McHale, ‘Checker’ Hughes & Tom Hafey. That says all you need to know about how good a coach he’s been.

Horse passing the torch is not too much of a surprise.
