While in Seattle I met the most Seattle old radical hippie you can imagine. He's peak keep it weird Seattle. Does not drive, doesn't have phone or internet, yard covered in signs. I passed the vibe check and he stopped by my God mom's place to give me a book on the union strike of 1937 and a shirt.

Our lyft driver to dinner asked about our opinions on Waymo driverless cars and I spun it to how Waymos are union busting scabs designed to make tech billionaires make more money and so they don't have to pay local workers and can outsource their workforce. I'm anti Waymo all the way brother. ✊

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Call your senators. I don’t care if they’re Republicans, or if a deal has already been reached. Call them anyway, and let them know exactly what you think of what’s happening. Don’t give them a moment’s peace to forget the blood on their hands.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

We're at Disneyland for my friends visiting and I must have mentally blocked being on the matterhorn before. because cramming myself and my backpack into a Bobsled seat in a skirt with my knees folded up to my ears was a ride that left me with no dignity left.

Frankenstein is an extremely visually rich movie, and a delight if you are a sicko who loves art history visual metaphor and historical anatomy studies.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR

Sharing AI Slop "ironically" is still fucking sharing it. Please knock it the fuck off.
Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.
