Why I rant here: most of my online friends group is non-Christian (a mix of atheists, Jews, other religions and my deist self), queer women - all depressed by the situation. They have to deal with enough shit without me adding to the negativity in our shared spaces.
What the right likes to peddle as "undocumented immigrants getting free health care" is basically that they can go to the emergency room if they have to; the same courtesy extended to a homeless American or a tourist from England. That is the extent of the "free health care" they get. (1/2)

Fascists are propagandists that love the gullible. They know that the gullible can be easily directed to act against their own best interests. And those gullible can be highly-educated, otherwise intelligent people; I work with mostly college-educated MAGA with Security+ certs.

I've heard several people say "cut everybody who voted for Trump out of your life - even if you work with them!". That is impossible for me. I work with MAGAs. I have to get along to get my work done. This doesn't mean I'm friends or hang out with them, but I know when to pick my battles.

Women are slowly realizing what a shit deal so-called "traditional American families" are for them. Why would you enter into a deal where you give up all your agency to labor endlessly for a man who can cheat on you at any time and suddenly cast you out onto the street?

Aaaaand... the "Department of War" has de-emphasized cybersecurity training. As someone who is involved in cybersecurity awareness training, I can only be horrified. Cyberattacks are a form of warfare! But of course they're a war department, nothing to worried about, right?

So, apparently some folks on the right think it's awful that the famously anti-fascist Indiana Jones mentions he doesn't like fascists. Also, that him saying that celebrates the death of CK. What the effing hell on that last part.

MAGA folk hate everything that makes America great - immigrants, POC, women. They want the mid 20th century where women and minorities 'knew their place', and white men reigned supreme. But when people who aren't WASP straight men get a chance, they make America truly great.

Sigh. Antifa itself is a decentralized entity. Anti-fascism however... I am anti-fascist by the sheer fact that I think fascist governments are shitty. Of course, this whole thing is to designate any left-wing protestors as "antifa" and therefore terrorists.

I've seen the texts as given in the charging document for the shooter, and I believe the government is likely falsifying evidence. The way he's texting is the way I text, with long sentences and good grammar. But I'm a woman that's over 40, my nieces and nephews do not text like I do.

The whole "you must mourn for CK" reminds me of what I've heard about the death of Kim Jung Un's father in which if you were not appropriately mournful for him, you could be punished.

To follow up from earlier: it's funny (and not in the 'haha' way) that left-wing/liberal folks get threats against them for daring to say anything negative about CK or similar figures; on the other hand, right-wingers face no consequences, no violent threats, no nothing when they do the same. (1/3)

I looked at the "let's get everybody who remotely said what could be construed as celebrating CK's murder" website and it reinforced what I've known for ages - be careful what you post online, especially on a profile linked to your offline identity. Because there are assholes out there.

ICE only allowing members of congress to visit with an appointment reminds me of the Nazis' Theresienstadt ghetto. That was the site that the Nazis used to convince the American Red Cross and others that no, they weren't exterminating Jews or mistreating them - see the model ghetto!

I don't like Gavin Newsom. I think he's in the pocket of a ton of commercial interests. I would only vote for him as a presidential candidate if the only other viable choice was a republican.

I've come to the conclusion that a very large amount of conservatives support book bans because books cause them to do what their leaders tell them they should never do: look critically at what their leaders are doing and saying.

When talking about for-profit prisons, I completely forgot about CoreCivic. Their CEO should be treated the same as GEO Group - arrested for what they do.

I unfortunately chanced upon the tv show "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" and I can't help but think "Oh gods, this is such an extremely patriarchal culture and I feel so sorry for the women in it". Because patriarchy is a horrible, horrible thing.

I don't agree that ACAB. There are people out there who are law enforcement because they are principled people who genuinely want to do good things and have not been corrupted by power. I think they are likely outnumbered by people who do fit ACAB but good cops do exist.
