It feels like a breath of fresh air here! Excited to reconnect & make new connections. Our lab studies sex differences in neurodevelopment & social behavior. Here's our latest paper on sex-specific responses to gut transfer from maternal immune activation model:
www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Gut microbiota transfer from the preclinical maternal immune activation model of autism is sufficient to induce sex-specific alterations in immune response and behavioural outcomes
The gut microbiome plays a vital role in health and disease, including neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ASD affects 4…

It’s insulting to tell 🇨🇦 scientists we need international scientists to run to our rescue & ensure innovation.

🇨🇦 scientists have exceeded expectations with paltry funding. If the gov funded Tricouncil > & sustainably; imagine how innovative we’d already be!! /End

I would love to know what university leaders say to politicians behind closed doors, because "asbestos is falling on our students' heads and we can't afford to change lightbulbs" doesn't seem to be what they are hearing.
“Canada is the best place to live, and top talent from around the world want to come here because they see opportunities and possibilities to contribute to cutting-edge research”...

...he says while allocating $1.7B to bribe people to move here and cutting grant funding. Unbelievable.
Canada makes pitch for US researchers to relocate with $1.7bn in new funding. My story for @science.org 🧪

🚨New lab publication is out!! 🚨

In this work we reveal that astrocytes, the most abundant glial cell type, are responsible for the effects of stress and that targeting these cells completely rescued the effects of stress on neuronal activity and behaviour!

Huge congrats to Lewis!!

For every 1 animal used in research, there are hundreds to thousands used for food.
Research animals globally: Estimated 50–100 million/year (most are mice, rats, and fish).
Animals killed for food globally: Over 70–80 billion land animals per year, plus trillions of fish.

If elected, Poilievre’s government will “put an end to the imposition of woke ideology in the federal civil service and federal funds for university research.”

The phrase is almost identical to wording used by the Trump administration.
